Which teachers can I use for private lessons?
There are several music teachers in the area that teach private lessons. Please indicate the teacher you would like to work with in your application. In general, your band/orchestra/chorus director is not eligible to give you private lessons.

What does the scholarship pay for?
This scholarship only pays for the private teacher’s lesson fee. It does not cover travel costs, music costs, or other costs outside of what the private teacher is being paid.

Can I split the payments and pay every other week?
Yes.

How will my teacher get paid?
Your teacher will be paid for lessons upfront every month. For instance, if there are four lessons in a month and they charge $50 per lesson, they will be paid $200. It is your responsibility to ensure you show up to the lessons and reschedule when necessary.
What if I need to miss a lesson?
Please first contact your private teacher and find out their lesson policies regarding missing lessons. If you violate their lesson policies by missing a lesson, you may lose your money for that lesson.

How many lessons will this cover?
This scholarship will cover an average of 15 lessons – depending on your private teacher’s fee.

Can I get this scholarship if I already am enrolled in private lessons?
Our priority will first go to students who have never taken private lessons; however, if there is funding available, you are still eligible to receive a scholarship.

Are homeschooled students eligible?
Homeschool students who are enrolled in Band, Orchestra, or Chorus at a local school may be eligible. However, homeschooled students not enrolled in any music program are not eligible.

Does my private teacher need to be local?
No. You may also use these lessons for virtual lessons as well.
